Future technology that will make "Transformers" jump from Hollywood stuff to reality is probably closer than we think. This video shows how a team of researchers from Carnegie Mellon University is developing shape-shifting robots from a swarm of much smaller robots. This reminds me of Michael Crichton's novel "Prey", where swarms of nanorobots went out of control and 'preyed' on living things around them.
