Have you ever heard a tesla coil playing a music concert by generating high-voltage 'lightning' sparks?  We're talking about real music here, not just random spurts of thunder noise.

This video shows a solid-state tesla coil built and owned by Steve Ward whose primary runs at a resonant frequency of 41 kHz.  Modulation of the tesla coil to create the various tones needed to play the loud music is done with a control unit that 'triggers' the coil digitally through a long fiber-optic cable.
